Day 27 - August 7, 2022 - Islay - Bad Weather - Unable to go Ashore!

It was a bumpy ride last night as we made our way to Islay on the exposed west coast of the Hebrides.  The captain said to expect 8 foot waves and I believe they were at least that.  I actually slept pretty well, but did wake up a number of times.  The funny thing is, my Fitbit registered NO SLEEP for the night because it thought I was never still.  I actually was still, it was just the boat that kept moving!

We awoke this morning and our good luck with the weather had finally left us.  It was misty rain and the wind was brisk.  This was another port where we were to take the zodiacs to shore.  The captain postponed the morning excursions to the afternoon and eventually had to cancel all excursions.

As we have experienced in the past, when on a ship and things go awry, they tend to ply you with alcohol.   They had a whiskey tasting late morning.  Of course wine and beer is provided for lunch and dinner, if you want.  Today they also provided an open bar at 6:00 PM if you wanted a drink before dinner.

They also arranged several onboard activities to participate in if you so desired.

Since we had to cancel all off ship activities, we were able to leave Islay Island in early afternoon and make our way to Belfast, which we reached during dinner.

We are on a pier here in Belfast, so weather will not be an issue in leaving the ship.

I am sorry there wasn't much to report, but it was a good day for napping and reading...
