Day 22 - August 2, 2022 - Board M/V Corinthian

We were able to have a slow start this morning.  There are will be 75 people on the ship, broken into three groups of 25.  We are assigned to groups by colors, red, yellow and blue.  We are in the blue group which today happens to be the last group to leave the hotel.  Our scheduled departure was 11:05, but it was 11:50 before we left.  I had time after breakfast to walk down the street to pick up some deodorant.   Not something you want to run our of when you are in a group of people and stretching  how long you can wear a shirt :).

After boarding the bus, we had a little touring of Aberdeen.  Having already spent two days here, we had pretty much seen most of the sites.

St. Andrews Kirk.  This looks like a peaceful final resting place.
The church opened in 1817 as St Andrew's Chapel and was raised to Cathedral status in 1914.

She obviously loves pidgins

The next three photos are of a few of the buildings of the University of Aberdeen.  There is some beautiful architecture.  (they also have their own brewery)

We finally boardered the M/V Corinthian around 1:30 PM.  After quickly settelling into our cabin, we made our way to the dining room for an excellent buffet lunch.

Again, things were running late.  We were supposed to depart at 6:00 PM, but the pilot did not arrive until almost 6:15 and it was 6:30 before we finally left port.

Dinner at 7:00.

This is enough cutlery to start a war, and yes I did use every piece in the meal which lasted 90 almost two hours.

After returning from dinner, our bed was turned down, towels replaced and more chocolate... just what we needed.

We are headed slightly NNW, making our way to the Orkney Islands.

When I published this blog last evening, I stated we were going to the Hebrides Islands, but in fact we are first headed to the Orkney Islands.  I guess it was too much food and too much wine.

The Orkney's are an archipelago in the Northern Isles of Scotland, situated off the north coast of the island of Great Britain. Orkney is 10 miles north of the coast of Caithness and has about 70 islands, of which 20 are inhabited. The largest island, the Mainland, has an area of 202 square miles, making it the sixth-largest Scottish island and the tenth-largest island in the British Isles. Orkney’s largest settlement, and also its administrative center, is Kirkwall.

It's bedtime... good night.
